According to a report by US research firm Sensor Tower, TikTok made a leap to the world’s most popular app, over Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube, in the first quarter of 2018.

“The increase of users means a higher demand of social responsibility on the company,” said Zhang on the 5th World Internet Conference’s panel about eradicating poverty and hunger.

He promised that the company would use its platform and technologies, including artificial intelligence, to assist in poverty alleviation as well as explore a new poverty relief model with mobile internet features.
