Top 5 Companies to Watch in CES Asia 2018

The Asian edition of the popular Consumer Electronics Show will open its doors for the 4th time in Shanghai tomorrow at CES Asia 2018. The exhibition will span three days from June 13 – 15 and showcase the newest technologies by over 500 companies from 80 countries.

This year’s four major show topics include vehicle technology, artificial intelligence (AI), mobile, as well as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR). Other categories of interest that are sure to make an appearance include 5G networks, smart cities and homes, video gaming, 3D printing, robotics and more.

After parsing through the extensive list of exhibitors spanning 20 product categories, here are the top five companies that we think you should watch for in CES Asia 2018:

At CES 2018 in Las Vegas, Baidu<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="trade-card__loading" layout="fixed" height="50" width="50" src="https://assets.pandaily.com/uploads/2021/12/loading.png" placeholder /> held “Baidu World @ Las Vegas” to unveil their work with AI, specifically in the areas of autonomous driving and smart homes. The press conference was hosted by Baidu<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="trade-card__loading" layout="fixed" height="50" width="50" src="https://assets.pandaily.com/uploads/2021/12/loading.png" placeholder /> COO and AI expert, Lu Qi who has since resigned. At this year’s CES Asia, Baidu is expected to announce new updates for their autonomous driving platform Apollo as well as for their AI-powered DuerOS and its respective compatible smart home devices.

As the biggest R&D spender in China, Alibaba announced their plans to develop a Bluetooth mesh module at CES 2018 earlier this year. The head of Alibaba A.I. Labs is scheduled to give a keynote speech on June 14 to discuss the next generations of Alibaba<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="trade-card__loading" layout="fixed" height="50" width="50" src="https://assets.pandaily.com/uploads/2021/12/loading.png" placeholder />‘s AI innovations.

BYTON

A truly global electric vehicle startup founded by German Expats officially opened their new headquarters in Nanjing yesterday, also announcing the successful completion of a $500 million Series B round. BYTON is expected to unveil its luxury sedan concept car at CES Asia tomorrow.

Huawei

As a leading smartphone manufacturer in China and around the world, Huawei is expected to steal the spotlight with their flagship P20 Pro smartphone that sports not one, not two, but three Leica cameras. Huawei’s more youthful and colorful smartphone brand, Honor has also recently released two flagship phones as well as an array of other products.

Lenovo

Lenovo is scheduled to take the keynote stage on June 14 to share breakthroughs in smartphone application technology, and how new technologies such as AI and blockchain are driving the smartphone industry forward.
