Tesla recalls 2277 Model X Cars for Security Concern of Seats in China

On October 19, official web of China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision shows Tesla Motors Sales (Beijing) Co. Ltd. announced to recall certain imported Model X cars and 2277 cars in mainland China are involved.

According to latest news, Tesla Motors Sales (Beijing) Co. Ltd. has filed its recall plan to General Administration of Quality Supervision (AQSIQ). From 19th Oct 2017, certain imported 2016 and 2017 Model X cars manufactured between 28th Oct. 2016 and 1st Sept. 2017 will be recalled. According to the statistics provided by Tesla, 2277 cars in mainland China are involved.

Some vehicles are recalled over an assembly defect. An improperly adjusted middle-seat cable could prevent the fold-flat seat from locking, which could cause the seat back to move forward and raise the risks of injury in a crash.

The company will adjust the cable correctly. The stock will be sold after the defects are eliminated. Concerned Model X owners are requested to avoid the event of two adults seated on the left side of the second-row fold-flat seats. Customers should contact the dealer for repair asap. when the recalling procedure begins.

The same Model Xs were recalled in April this year for potential electronic parking brake issue. As the parking brake might stick, Tesla issued a voluntary recall for 53,000 Model X and Model S cars. Earlier, 2,700 Model Xs were taken in over some slippery third-row seats.
