OnePlus 6T Review: Specs, Design, Price and More

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus was founded in December 2013. Since its first phone – the OnePlus One was released on April 23 2014, OnePlus has come to occupy an increasingly large share of the global smartphone market. On October 30 2018, OnePlus 6T was released at a New York launch event named “Unlock the Speed”. This flagship phone sports a lightning-fast in-display fingerprint sensor and powerful performance specs for half the price of its rivals-iPhone XR, Pixel 3, Samsung S9.

OnePlus 6T is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and OxygenOS with Android 9.0. It comes in various configurations starting at 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. In comparison to the OnePlus 6, the OnePlus 6T sports an on-trend waterdrop screen design instead of a notch screen, a full display of 6.4 inches, a larger 3700 mAh battery, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The OnePlus 6T also comes without a 3.5mm headphone jack, a first for OnePlus phones. However, the phone comes with a dongle, so the lack of headphone jack shouldn’t affect the user experience too much.

In-display fingerprint for quick unlocking

One of the most eagerly-awaited features of the OnePlus 6T is its in-display fingerprint unlocking. As mentioned above, the removal of its 3.5mm jack has allowed OnePlus to equip the 6T with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Just like the OPPO FIND X, Vivo NEX, the 6T’s fingerprint sensor has been removed from its backside and is now placed underneath the display. Press your finger on the screen’s fingerprint icon, and the phone will unlock in a split second!

OnePlus 6T Smart Boost for faster loading

To enhance the gaming experience, the phone comes with “Smart Boost”, a new gaming feature that takes full advantage of the large RAM of the OnePlus phones, which will leverage the performance of loading apps and games. When you start a game on a 6T, the device will automatically use the RAM as ROM, that’s to say, the RAM and ROM will become a single unit to intensity the gaming experience. It’s said that the technology can make PUBG loading time 20 percent faster.

Nightscape camera for night photography

Though the OnePlus 6T shares some of the same hardware and software as its predecessor OnePlus 6, it does have some important new features. Among the software changes is a new night mode camera feature called Nightscape. This technology uses a longer exposure time to capture better photos in poor lighting conditions. OnePlus claims that the 6T is unparalleled across other smartphones within the same price range when it comes to cityscape photography.
