Global fabless semiconductor company MediaTek released the Dimensity 9000+ mobile platform on Tuesday. The company said smartphones equipped with the new platform are expected to be made available in the third quarter of 2022.
According to its official introduction, the Dimensity 9000+ integrates Arm’s v9 CPU architecture with a 4nm octa-core process, providing more than a 5% boost in CPU performance and more than a 10% improvement in GPU performance.
The ultra-Cortex-X2 core operates at up to 3.2GHz, increased from the 3.05GHz of the Dimensity 9000. The new platform also has three super Cortex-A710 cores and four efficiency Cortex-A510 cores, combined with the Arm Mali-G710 MC10 graphics processor.
In addition, the rest of the hardware parameters of the new product are the same as those of the Dimensity 9000. This upgraded version seems to feature only slight improvements – not as much as the improvement from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, for instance.
The Dimensity 9000+ also supports LPDDR5X memory operating at a rate of 7500Mbps. With the flagship 18-bit HDR-ISP image signal processor, it supports simultaneous triple camera 18-bit HDR video recording, with a low power design. Equipped with MediaTek’s fifth-generation application processor unit (APU 5.0) and a built-in M80 5G modem, the new platform conforms to the 3GPP R16 5G standard of a new generation and supports Sub-6GHz 5G full-band network.
The new product supports WQHD+ resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution with a 180Hz refresh rate. In terms of wireless network and audio technology, the Dimensity 9000+ features wifi and bluetooth technologies with lower delays, including Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi6E 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth LEAudio (which can provide dual-link wireless stereo support) and Beidou-3 B1C GNSS.
Yenchi Lee, the deputy general manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communication Business unit, said: “Building on the success of our first flagship 5G chipset, the Dimensity 9000+ delivers faster gameplay, seamless streaming and an all-around better user experience with a suite of top-tier AI, gaming, multimedia, imaging and connectivity features.”
