With the start of the 2022 LoL Pro League (LPL) Spring Split just around the corner, Huya officially announced on Monday that it has successfully acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights of the LPL for five years. Huya will arrange a series of live-streaming activities before and after the competition, and invite guests to participate.
The slogan of the LPL Spring Split is “Crazy is our game”, and the first games will pit OMG vs TT and FPX vs RNG. The LPL Spring Split will adopt the system of “No Grouping, Single Round Robin, BO3”, which will last until March 20.
Last November, in the 2021 League of Legends World Championship, EDG from Mainland China (LPL) played five games with the reigning champion, DK from Korean LCK, and won the championship with a 3:2 record. Then in December, EDG members officially entered Huya.
Huya has gained a lot recently in its live-streaming rights. On November 18, 2021, Huya and ESL announced that they had reached a two-year (2022, 2023) exclusive broadcasting rights agreement in China, and would continue to carry out broadcasting cooperation in the field of ESL series events covering CS:GO, Dota2, StarCraft II and other titles. On December 1, Huya also acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights for the LoL 2021 Demacia Cup.
