Huawei Signs Deal with Jordan to Establish Three ICT Training Academies

China’s telecommunication giant Huawei is expanding its global footprint by establishing three academies in Jordan to provide advanced information and communication technology (ICT) training to Jordanian youth.

On Apr. 7, the multinational tech company and the ICT Ministry of Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding to ink the cooperation on developing skills of young Jordanians in the technology field on the sidelines of World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa 2019.

Under the agreement, Huawei will partner up with three public universities to build three academies to cultivate around 3,000 local students and public employees over the next three years.

In addition, the two sides will work on realizing Jordan’s vision in e-education, healthcare and smart cities.

At the signing ceremony, ICT Minister Muthana Gharaibeh said that the Kingdom’s future lies in technological development and the youth. He also added that the continuation of the strategic partnership with Huawei will enable the ministry to train talented youth on smart technologies and provide necessary expertise.

On Saturday, King Abdullah met with Huawei’s rotating chairman Guo Ping and expressed his gratitude to the company for supporting Jordan’s ICT sector by establishing capacity building centers. Guo said that the government has a clear vision for integrating technology solutions with smart development and successful societies.
