Huami Releases Amazfit Sports Watch 3 and Amazfit GTS

World-leading smart wearable manufacturer Huami has officially launched on August 27 a fresh lineup of products, among which are two new versions of the Amazfit Sports Watch and a fashionable timepiece Amazfit GTS. The company also introduced a concept product named Amazfit X, that is expected to go on sale in 2020.

Amazfit Sports Watch 3 and its Elite Edition extends the aesthetics of the Amazfit Sports Watch Series. The new watches are equipped with a 1.34-inch Full Moon Display, an all-round reflective screen exclusively customized by JDI (Japan Display Inc.) for Huami. The company claims that this display is great for outdoor activities since beaming sun rays only enhance the clarity of its picture quality. Not only is the smart wearable great under the sun, it is also water resistant when submerged down to 50 meters.

On factory default settings, the watch can last seven days without charging and up to 14 days if switched to ultra mode. The BioTracker PPG, a high precision bio-tracking optical sensor independently developed by Huami, is designed to constantly monitor the wearer’s heart rate. The timepiece also packs a Sony GNSS chip, compatible with four different satellite positioning systems: GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo. Users can choose between a combination of GPS + GLONASS, GPS + Beidou, or GPS + Galileo depending on their location to ensure the utmost accuracy in global positioning.

Amazfit GTS is essentially the newest iteration of the Amazfit GTR smart watch, where the “S” stands for “square”, hence the shape of the device. The new watch boasts the highest resolution among all mainstream adult-oriented watches with the pixels per inch density (PPI) reaching roughly 341. The 9.4mm thick body of the watch is made of aviation-grade aluminium alloy.

Amazfit GTS can perform 24-hour continuous high-precision heart rate monitoring and interval monitoring during exercise. It also supports an industry-leading AI algorithm that screens the wearer’s heart-rate data to detect arrhythmia. The wearable also has built-in NFC chips that can be used to pay for transport services in buses and on subways across 255 Chinese cities. Sadly, Huami did not mention if this feature would work outside China. The battery lasts up to 46 days in basic watch mode or around 25 hours through extensive use.
