Zeekr to Announce EV Chip Upgrade on July 11

Smart pure electric car brand Zeekr announced on July 8 that it would organize the Zeekr Evolution Day on July 11, during which it is expected to unveil a new 8155 chip upgrade service.

The Zeekr 001 uses an 820A chip. The latest 8155 chip has nearly four times higher image processing capability, and it has another special AI computing module.

The Qualcomm 820A chip adopts a 14nm process. It was put on the market in 2016, priced at about $40. Its performance is similar to the Snapdragon 820 chip. The 8155 chip was released in 2020, adopting a 7nm process, priced at about $250. Its computing power reaches 8TOPS. It supports up to six cameras, and is able to connect four 2K screens or three 4K screens. This chip supports WiFi6, 5G and Bluetooth, among other features.

In terms of computing power, the 8155 chip is two times higher in CPU and nearly four times higher in GPU than 820A chip. Moreover, the 8155 chip also has a special neural network computing unit, which can better support AI algorithms.
