Xiaomi Unveils Mi Mix 4 Alongside Mi Pad 5 and New OLED Mi TV Series

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday unveiled its Mix 4, alongside the Mi Pad 5 and new OLED Mi TV series.

The new Mi Mix 4 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888+ processor, full screen CUP, integrated precision ceramics, a first in the company’s lineup, and UWB technology.

With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ processor, the phone’s Al performance is said to increase by as much as 23%. Prices start at 4,999 yuan ($772) and can go up to 6,299 yuan ($972) for a higher spec version.

The Mi Mix 4 employs a cutting-edge CUP surround screen. The new type of camera took three years, cost 500 million yuan in investment funding, and occupied more than 100 display engineers to enable the front-facing camera hide behind the panel. By using integrated precision ceramics on the back of the device, the Mi Mix 4 shed 30% of its weight.

The phone is set to be equipped with ultra wideband (UWB), a more advanced version of the more familiar Bluetooth technology, and will enable precision to within a centimeter of the device’s location.

Color options include black, white, and ceramic gray which was inspired by the traditional shadowy blue glaze porcelain from the northern Song dynasty.

The phone will also be able to fast charge. Using the 120-watt wire charge takes only 10 minutes to reach 80% and 15 minutes to reach 100%. The wired charging also supports constant temperature while charging, so the phone won’t exceed 37℃ maximum.

The wireless method of fast charging uses the 50W charger and takes only 28 minutes to reach 100%. Further, if end users are within 30 cm of the device while the wireless base is charging, they will notice that the noise level won’t eclipse 24dB.

The new model is priced at 19,999 yuan, which is much more expensive than Mi TV6.
