Xgimi Technology’s Net Profit in First Half of 2021 Increases by 98%

Xgimi Technology, a Chinese manufacturer of multi-functional smart projectors and laser TVs, announced on Thursday that it achieved an operating income of 1.687 billion yuan ($259 million) in the first half of 2021, representing a year-on-year increase of 47.48%. Meanwhile, its net profit reached 193 million yuan, a significant year-on-year increase of 98.06%.

The revenue of Xgimi mainly comes from its projector and accessories businesses. In the first half of 2021, the firm’s overseas revenue was 132 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 136.51%. It has set up subsidiaries in the United States, Japan and Hong Kong.

The Chengdu-based firm’s total investment in research and development was 112 million yuan, an increase of 2.14% compared to last year and accounting for 6.66% of its operating income. In addition, the company increased the salary of scientific research personnel. From January to June this year, it applied for 133 new patents, including 113 invention patents and 10 newly authorized invention patents.

RS Pro2, a new projector launched by Xgimi in April this year, allows users to watch movies, shows and sports events in 4K ultra-high-definition video quality. It also comes with Harman-Kardon patented audio and DTS sound quality.

Xgimi has also strengthened its investment in the realm of film and television. In the first half of this year, Xgimi launched a GMAX 4K Channel, UEFA Channel and Karaoke Channel to meet various needs of users. By the end of June, the number of monthly active users of the company’s projection terminals reached 1.73 million.

According to a report by the International Data Corporation, the shipment of home projectors in 2020 was 3 million units, up 7.5% year-on-year. Xgimi, JmGo, Epson, BenQ and MI comprised the top five in this area. Another highlight is that Xgimi’s share in Chinese projector market has exceeded 18%, increasing by nearly 4 points year-on-year.
