Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai Officially Produces the 1 Millionth Model Y

On July 13th, it was reported that several automotive bloggers recently announced that the Tesla Gigafactory Shanghai has produced its one millionth Model Y.

From the photos, it can be seen that both domestic and foreign employees of the factory gathered around a red Model Y to take a group photo.In the background, there is a banner saying “1 Million: Invincible in Battle, United as One,” and on the ground, there are words written: “One Million Units Produced at Shanghai Factory – Breaking Records and Leading Continuously.”

And as of the time of writing, Tesla has not officially released any official news regarding this matter. Automotive blogger @Tongjiren stated that Tesla’s Shanghai factory produced 206,000 Model Y vehicles in 2021 and 464,000 vehicles in 2022. As of July 12, 2023, a total of one million vehicles have been produced.

This also means that as of yesterday, Tesla’s Shanghai factory has produced 330,000 Model Y vehicles this year. It is evident that the total production of domestically made Model Y will continue to reach new highs this year.

On August 14, 2022, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced on his Twitter that Tesla has produced over 3 million vehicles, with Gigafactory Shanghai producing 1 million of them.

In just the past month of June, Tesla China delivered a total of 93,680 new vehicles, marking a 19% increase compared to June last year when they delivered 78,906 vehicles. This sets a new record for Tesla China’s delivery volume this year.
