Tesla China Increases Model 3 Price, Strengthens Battery Life

Today, Tesla China’s official website shows that the price of its Model 3’s rear-wheel drive version has increased by 15,000 yuan ($2,350) to 250,900 yuan. The current delivery time is in the first quarter of next year.

Comparing the pictures of new and old models available on its official website, Tesla streamlined the naming method of the new Model 3. The rear wheel drive version was changed from “Standard Range Plus” to “Model 3” while the all-wheel drive dual-motor version was changed from “High Performance Edition” to “Model 3 High Performance Edition”.

In terms of battery life, the old Model 3 has a battery life of 468 kilometers, while the new Model 3 has a battery life of 556 kilometers.

The new Model 3 needs 6.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, down from the original 5.6 seconds. The top speed of the new Model 3 is still 225 kilometers per hour. In addition, the standard version of the new car comes with steering wheel heating and seat heating functions.

Tesla has adjusted the price of domestic products many times this year. The price of its long range version of the Model S and Model X were raised by 60,000 yuan in July and August while, in September, the price of the performance version of the Model Y rose by 10,000 yuan. Yet again, on October 27th, the prices of the Model S Long Range version and the Model X Long Range version were both raised by 30,000 yuan.

On November 12th, Tesla China launched its new Model Y which has an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h 6.9 seconds, up from 5.6 seconds of the previous model. The vehicle’s cruising range has also changed from 525 kilometers to 545 kilometers. However, the price of the new Model Y has not changed, starting from 276,000 yuan.
