Suning Esports Partners with KFC and Roewe Prior to League of Legends World Championship Finals

The 2020 League of Legends World Championship Grand Final is only two days away. Prior to this year’s culmination of professional League of Legends esports, Suning Esports (SN), one of the final two contenders of the Summoner’s Cup (Worlds’ trophy), managed to add two more brands to its sponsorship portfolio.

The Chinese esports organization announced Thursday that it has partnered with automobile brand Roewe and American fast food restaurant chain KFC. The two brands will join Suning.com, Yep Yipai, Skyworth, Logitech, Huya, Eleme, Nvidia, and TUMI to support the organization’s first-ever bid to win the event’s championship title.

Financial terms of both deals were not disclosed.

SN is an esports organization that currently competes in the League of Legends Professional League (LPL), the highest-level league for the game in China. The organization participates in the World Championship as the third seed of LPL, as well as the underdog at the final. SN is owned by Chinese e-commerce company Suning, which is also one of the official partners of the LPL.

Roewe is a vehicle marque created by Chinese automaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) in 2006.

KFC is a fast-food restaurant chain that is famous for its American style fried chicken. It is the largest restaurant chain in China and is franchised by Yum China, an American Fortune 500 fast-food restaurant company that also owns the Pizza Hut and Taco Bell chains in China.

The grand final between Suning and DAMWON Gaming (DWG) will take place at 6 PM CST on Saturday, Oct. 31.

After SN defeated Chinese team TOP Esports (TES) in semi-finals, Kangyang (Steven) Zhang, vice president of Suning Holdings Group, made an announcement on Weibo that if SN finally were to win the championship, he would give out 100 iPhone 12s to those who reposted or commented on the announcement. The post currently has over 462,000 reposts and 389,000 comments.
