Specs Unveiled for New Redmi Note Smartphone Models

After Xiaomi subsidiary Redmi’s flagship K Series of smartphones is released this year, the next thing to look forward to is the new Note series. The Redmi Note models have been added to TENAA, China’s state telecommunications certification authority, and some specific configuration parameters have also been made public.

Two new models from Redmi are shown on the TENAA website. They are equipped with 6.6-inch displays, with a size of 163.64 x74.29 x8.8 mm, 4980 mAh and 4300 mAh batteries respectively. Both are installed with Android 12 operating system.

Information regarding the new Redmi Note models has leaked before. Domestic tipster with username “@Digital Chat Station” revealed that this series will be a mid-range device featuring high a highly recognizable design, good performance and a long battery life.

The Redmi Note new models will be equipped with a MediaTek processor, but not Dimensity 8100. It is speculated that the Redmi Note 12 series may be equipped with either a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 or Dimensity 8000 chipset.

The Dimensity 1300 is built based on TSMC’s 6nm process. The octa-core CPU includes four Cortex-A78, one of which is a super-large core with a frequency of 3.0 GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 2.0 GHz. The GPU is ARM Mali-G77 MC9.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8000 chipset is a reduced frequency version of the Dimensity 8100. It is based on TSMC’s 5nm process and consists of four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores, with a frequency of 2.75 GHz. The frequency of Dimensity 8100, however, is 2.85 GHz.

In 2021, Lu Weibing, partner of Xiaomi Group and general manager of Redmi, said that the Note series began a strategy of delivering two generations of smartphones each year, mainly to meet the needs of more diversified users. They are respectively positioned as “Performance Flagship” and “Experience Flagship.”
