Zihao is considered one of the best League of Legends players in the world and has a significant social influence in China. In 2018, China Central Television (CCTV) aired a documentary about Zihao’s esports career before he won the gold medal for China’s national League of Legends team at the Jakarta Asian Games. He also won the 2018 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), and was two time runner-up at the 2013 and 2014 League of Legends World Championship.

Zihao has significantly contributed to the commercial value of esports. He is the first Chinese esports player to sign a deal with global sportswear brand Nike. In 2018, the brand and Zihao collaborated on a campaign with LeBron James to promote the NBA star’s documentary Shut Up & Dribble. The poster featured both James and Zihao, and was posted on a wall near Huaihai Road, a central street in Shanghai.

Recently, Zihao was also featured on Nike’s newest esports commercial, “A greater ambition depends on a stronger body,” which aimed to call for the importance of a good diet and physical exercise in esports. In June, Zihao announced his retirement due to ongoing health issues. His retirement led to a massive discussion about how a serious injury could affect esports players.
