JD Logistics and SAIC-GM-Wuling to Cooperate on New Products

JD Logistics announced on August 8 that the company and SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile (SGMW) will work together on prospective warehousing and logistics technologies in addition to business flow and vehicle procurement services.

JD Logistics said that as the automobile market has become saturated in which the potential of China’s after-sales supply chain market for the automobile industry, which mainly consists of after-sales accessories, is gradually maturing. In 2019, the two companies reached a deal in which both parties made progress in improving circulation and reduction of inventory for after-sales accessories.

This deepening of cooperation aims to further upgrade SGMW’s after-sales supply chain network structure. At the same time, the two sides will cooperate in the procurement of logistics terminal vehicles while jointly customizing and developing new products to meet demands in JD Logistics’ transportation, distribution and other scenarios.

SGMW had previously built the Wuling E10 electric car for couriers which later appeared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s catalogue in February this year. The small, with a length, width and height of 3310/1080/1690 mm respectively, appears to be convenient to drive through the narrow streets and alleys of the older parts of cities across the country. Its front is relatively straight and bears Wuling’s Red Label and a side-opening container.

In terms of power, the E10 uses a 9 kWh battery pack with a motor power of 20KW, but its endurance has not yet been announced. For reference, its Hongguang Mini EV (120km battery life version) has a battery of 9.2 kWh and a  20KW power motor.
