Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com released consumption data for the popular ‘Double Eleven’ shopping festival on Wednesday night. At 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, the turnover of mobile phones of Xiaomi, iQOO, OPPO, Honor, Huawei, Samsung and Vivo increased four times year-on-year, with the turnover of iPhone exceeded 100 million yuan ($15.1 million) in just two seconds. In addition, all mobile phone brands have broken previous records and set new highs during Double Eleven.
The turnover of household appliances exceeded 2 billion yuan in five minutes, while the categories of entertainment TVs, partition washing machines, fresh air conditioners and floor washing machines all increased by more than five times year-on-year. The turnover of high-end laptops increased by 260% year-on-year. Furthermore, the turnover of edible oil and condiments for infants increased by 30 times year-on-year.
Within four hours from the beginning of the Double Eleven, consumers’ pursuit of product upgrading could clearly be seen. Among them, the top five categories in terms of total turnover were smartphones, refrigerators, flat panel TVs, washing machines and air conditioners. Also, the top five categories in terms of sales volume are milk and dairy products, tissues, shampoo, cooking oil, as well as biscuits and cakes.

Double Eleven this year has also witnessed the fastest growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in JD.com. The number of new small and medium-sized brands has increased by more than four times year-on-year, and it has saved them 78.5% of basic operating costs. The sales of cross-border goods of time-honored brands has also increased by 105% year-on-year.
