JD.COM Bans 87 Games, Including Animal Forest Friends Association and Call of Duty
China’s top online retailer JD.COM announced on Thursday that it had banned games which are without approval and proper filings. These games will not be able to be sold in its online mall in the future. The move follows the recent regulations issued by the Chinese government. According to the list published by JD.COM, a total of 87 games have so far been banned.
Banned games include Animal Forest Friends Association, the entire Call of Duty series, the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series, Fistful of Dollars 2, FIFA 19, The Last of Us 2, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon.
Further, the announcement issued by JD.COM mentioned that, in the future, games sold by merchants can not contain the following contents:
(1) Violate of the basic principles determined by the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China;
(2) Endanger national unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity;
(3) Divulge state secrets, endanger national security or damage national honor and interests;
(4) Incite ethnic hatred and discrimination, undermine ethnic unity, or infringe on ethnic customs and habits;
(5) Promote cults and superstitions;
(6) Spread rumors, disrupt social order or undermine social stability;
(7) Advocate obscenity, pornography, gambling, violence, or abetting crimes;
(8) Insult or slander others and infringe on the legitimate rights and interests of others;
(9) Be contrary to social morality;
(10) Host any other content that is prohibited by the law, administrative regulations and state regulations.
JD.COM said that this move is to regulate the operation order of online games and maintain a healthy and harmonious Internet cultural environment.
