Huawei, CATL and Changan Automobile to Mass Produce AVATR 11

AVATR 11, the first model of the joint venture between Huawei, Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), and Changan Automobile, was revealed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last Sunday.

During the Brand Day event in November last year, AVATR did not reveal any specific parameters of the new car. The inclusion into MIIT’s catalogue suggests the new model would soon be put into mass production. Its scheduled release is at Beijing Auto Show in April and will begin deliveries in Q3.

The AVATR 11 is positioned as a medium-sized SUV. Its dimensions measure 4880 mm long, 1970 mm wide, and 1601 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2975mm. The model features Huawei’s three-in-one electric power system and has a top cruising range of 600km.

In terms of intelligent driving, the new vehicle is equipped with Huawei’s ADS system, and can implement L2-level automatic assisted driving. It has more than 30 sensors with a computing power as high as 400 tops. Further, the console features Huawei’s HarmonyOS intelligent system.

AVATR’s design center is located in Germany and this model was also designed by a German team. The vehicle is equipped with CATL’s ternary lithium-ion battery pack and its new generation cell-to-pack technology (CTP). CTP adopts the scheme of integrating small modules into larger modules which means that there are still modules, but the number of modules is fewer but the energy density of the batteries is much higher.

In terms of charging, the AVATR 11 features a 750V high-voltage charging system, with a maximum charging power of 240kW. It can be charged from 30% to 80% within 15 minutes.
