On Thursday, Raul Wei, Product Manager for the Play series of smartphones made by Honor, announced the future release of a new device in the Play series. The new phone is expected to be released in the near future.
Judging from the company’s promotional content, the slogan for the new product is “The Interdimensional Big Player”. It seems that the new smartphone will be equipped with a larger screen than others in the series.
In addition, judging from the poster and the official copywriting, it appears Honor is looking to enter into the metaverse industry. This smartphone seems to meet some “metaverse needs” while the company is also using the word “player” to describe the target users for this smartphone. It may be that the new product may be a smartphone with a large screen designed for gamers.
A digital blogger on Weibo with the username “Factory Manager Mr.Guan” previously revealed that Honor will launch the new smartphone in the Play series in April, and that the new product may surprise some consumers. Some netizens predicted that the upgraded Play series is expected to be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor.
Previously, photos of the Honor Play 6T Pro and its application for obtaining network access were shared all over the Internet. The front of the device adopts a display with a notch in the center while the rear adopts a matrix camera module. The cameras include 48 megapixel main cameras and 2-megapixel macro lenses respectively. A 6.7-inch LCD screen will be used for the display.
In October last year, Honor released the Play5 Vitality Edition with a price tag of 1799 yuan ($283.65) for the 8GB + 128GB version.
In terms of hardware configuration, the Play5 Vitality Edition adopted a 6.67-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of 2376 × 1080. The phone was equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor and provided a storage combination of up to 8GB + 256GB. The 4300mAh battery supported fast charging with up to 66W power. In terms of appearance, it is equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera and a rear dual camera module consisting of a 64-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth of field camera.
