Honor 8X Review: Good-Looking & Cheap

Honor released another attractive mobile phone, the Honor 8X, in the early September in China. It’s a well-designed, good-looking, and budget-friendly Chinese Android phone under $300.

Some people may still remember Honor 8, which was Honor’s flagship launched in 2016, a fancy, light-refracting glass design with high-end specs, so stylish for its time. While the Honor 8X looks quite different from the Honor 8, it adopts many of the trendiest features of 2018, such as a larger 6.5-inch display, bezel-less notch screen, artificial intelligence (AI) features, etc.

Note: Smartphones are updating so quickly, and some companies release new phones every few months. To my disappointment, the Honor 8 is no longer available in Honor’s official store. Sad. But my own Honor 8 is still working running smoothly!

Why buy the Honor 8X smartphone?

Though the Honor 8X is not a flagship phone, it has an attractive design, a fantastic display, AI camera and a jaw-dropping price tag.

Aiming to create bezel-less phones have been a new trend of 2018. With a mere 4.25 mm chin, Honor 8X reaches an incredible screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent. With the nearly border-less design, the 6.5-inch large display occupies nearly the whole front of the phone, and feels like a 5.5 inch phone in hand. Its 19.5:9 aspect ratio and enhanced visual quality show more details and offer a better cinematic experience.

AI Camera for beautiful photos

“20MP AI Camera, Performing More Than You Can Imagine”. The AI camera is one of Honor’s big selling points with all of its newly released phones. With AI support, the Kirin 710 can recognize up to 22 different scenarios in which it can apply custom exposure and color corrections, all in real time. And the 16MP front camera also enables high quality selfies. With an enhanced ISO and supports 4-in-1 light fusion and multi-frame image processing to create quality and beautified selfies with bokeh effects.
