Gree Announces Implementation of Double-Break Working Schedule

On Monday, Chinese appliance manufacturer Gree officially announced that it would cancel the “big and small week” overtime working schedule and implement a “double break” policy, which would be enforced from that day. All overtime work will also be cancelled. For those employees who really need to work overtime, the approval of a relevant leader is now required. A report to the enterprise department is also required to help arrange a shift later.

The adjusted work and rest time on weekdays is from Monday to Friday, 8:30-11:45 in the morning and 13:30-17:30 in the afternoon.

On November 18, Gree celebrated its 30th birthday. Many employees wrote on the 30th anniversary signature wall that they wanted the firm to adopt “double breaks.” Previously, ByteDance and Kuaishou cancelled the “big and small week” overtime working schedule on August 1 and July 1, respectively.

Dong Mingzhu, chairman of Gree Electric, said that she hoped the firm would work only day shifts and no night shifts, but when the society needs them, they will still need to make sacrifices. Everyone who walks into Gree Electric in the next 30 years will be our future contributors, and we should try our best to make everyone play their role on this stage.
