DiDi Launches Comprehensive Bike-Sharing Platform

Didi Chuxing today officially launched its comprehensive bike-sharing platform within its app, which now integrates the services of bluegogo and ofo. Beijing and Shenzhen will be the first two cities where users can find the “Bike-Sharing” tab on the DiDi app and use bluegogo’s bike through the app with no deposit required.

The new multi-brand bike-sharing platform, to be rolled out across China, is expected to improve user experience and offer richer consumer options.

Regrouped bluegogo bikes carry a QR code for users to unlock, ride and pay through the DiDi app deposit-free.

Beijing and Shenzhen will see the gradual return of the popular blue bikes. Once passed a credit check, users may enjoy a deposit-free service offered by bluegogo.

In May 2017, China’s Ministry of Transport issued new directives for the bike-sharing industry to strengthen supervision of users’ capital, with special encouragement for industry players to provide deposit-free services.

“By launching its bike-sharing platform, DiDi will upgrade its short-trip mobility strategy and provide various mobility options and better travel experiences for travelers on the ‘last three kilometers,’” says Fu Qiang, Senior VP of DiDi. “This illustrates DiDi’s efforts to continuously improve our one-stop transportation platform.”

The launch of the comprehensive bike-sharing platform came as DiDi announced its cooperation agreement with bluegogo last week. Under the agreement, the brand name, deposits, debts and other related properties are retained by bluegogo. Users have the option of converting bluegogo deposits, privileges and app top-up values into DiDi bike and car ride coupons of an equivalent value.
