Chinese Transport Authorities Deny Link to “Strong Nation Transport” Ride-Hailing App

On January 18, an app that has been described as the first Chinese state-backed transportation platform, “Strong Nation Transport,” unveiled new progress. It is understood that the app covers many functions including ride-hailing, freight, and shipping, and that it has recently completed alpha testing and will be launched soon. Some media outlets reported that the app has been launched with support from the country’s Ministry of Transport. However, according to Chinese media outlet Jiemian, authorities declared today that they had no relationship with the app.

It is understood that Strong Nation Transport will launch ride-hailing services first, connecting dozens of online ride-hailing companies with sufficient transportation capacity and abundant service models. Tong Guanglai, the head of the Strong Nation Transport project, said that the platform is still increasing its capacity, and it is estimated that access will eventually account for more than 90% of the total market. In the future, the app will also be connected to WeChat, Alipay, Douyin and other platforms to facilitate safe and convenient digital transportation services.

Regarding whether they would join up with the Strong Nation Transport platform, ride-hailing company T3 told a YICAI reporter that they would actively communicate and contribute their own strength to building up China’s strength in the transportation sector. Various other ride-hailing companies told YICAI that there had been no progress so far regarding a connection with Strong Nation Transport.
