On October 22, Chery New Energy Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Anhui Cowarobot Co., Ltd.
Chery New Energy focuses on R&D, production, sales and investment of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and their key components. It has an international-level vehicle development process and standard system, and acquires the core technologies in 32-bit vehicle control, integrated thermal management, heat pump air conditioning and integrated battery packs for NEVs.
Cowarobot is a new prominent enterprise in the field of autonomous driving in China. Founded in 2015, it has received investment from SB China Venture Capital (SBCVC), BAIC Capital, Chuangshi Partner and HuaJin Capital. It focuses on autonomous driving technology in urban dynamic scenarios and applies technology to vertical scenarios. Cowarobot just announced the completion of C-Round financing worth $250 million in September.
As He Tao, Founder and Chairman of Cowarobot , introduced at the press conference, the strategic cooperation between the two parties enables Cowarobot to integrate technology development with application in the travel by autonomous driving space. In the future, Cowarobot will join hands with Chery to comprehensively apply L4-level commercial application in public environments. The two sides will fully employ their respective advantages, and cooperate deeply in the fields of online control of automobile chassis, key sensing devices of automatic driving, and automatic driving algorithms.
The event was also the launching ceremony of Wuhu Autopilot Demonstration Operation. Relying on the core technical advantages of Cowarobot and Chery in autonomous driving and NEVs, respectively, Wuhu City is constructing an Autopilot Demonstration Operation Zone, a new cluster of intelligent networked industries and a new mode of intelligent transportation operations.
Regarding the autonomous driving solutions, both parties will jointly build and unite based on their respective industrial resources and technological advantages, focusing on the application scenarios of robotaxis and urban distribution logistics, as well as the development of related market demands.
In terms of intelligent networked vehicles, both parties will focus on promoting innovative research and development and in-depth application of advanced assisted driving, controller integration, high-precision mapping and data processing, and jointly develop a new generation of intelligent networked L4-L5 self-driving vehicles.
As early as 2019, Chery and Cowarobot jointly worked on a public road test project in Wuhu and Shanghai. This project was based on Chery’s NEV, and performed well with Cowarobot’s automatic driving system.
