CATL Tops Chinese Domestic Power Battery Installations in June

On July 11, the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA) announced the top 15 domestic power battery installation enterprises in June. Among them, CATL ranked first with a proportion of 49.60%.

BYD, LG New Energy, China Aviation Lithium Battery Technology (CALB) and Gotion Hi-Tech ranked second through fifth, with 18.53%, 6.19%, 6.01% and 4.94% respectively. The sixth to eighth places were Sunwoda, SVOLT and EVE Energy.

In June 2022, a total of 37 power battery companies in China’s new energy vehicle market achieved the installation of vehicle batteries – two fewer than during the same period last year. The top three, five, and 10 power battery companies installed 20.1GWh, 23.0GWh and 25.8GWh of power batteries, accounting for 74.3%, 85.3% and 95.4% of the total installed capacity respectively.

From January to June, 2022, a total of 45 power battery enterprises in China installed their products – a decrease of eight companies compared with the same period last year. The top three, five, and 10 power battery companies installed 84.6GWh, 94.3GWh and 104.3GWh of power batteries, accounting for 76.8%, 84.7% and 94.7% of the total installed capacity respectively.

The CABIA also released the monthly data on power batteries in June 2022. In terms of output, China’s power battery output totaled 41.3 GWh during the month, up 171.7% year-on-year and 16.1% quarter-on-quarter. From January to June, China’s power battery output totaled 206.4 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 176.4%.

In June, the sales volume of power batteries in China totaled 47.5 GWh, up 297.0% year-on-year. From January to June, the cumulative sales volume of power batteries in China reached 205.4 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 253.2%.

Also in June, the installation capacity of power batteries in China was 27.0 GWh, up 143.3% year-on-year and 45.5% quarter-on-quarter. From January to June, the cumulative loading capacity of power batteries in China was 110.1 GWh, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 109.8%.
