BYD Reaches Agreement With RoboSense

BYD, a Chinese EV maker, announced on Tuesday that it had held a signing ceremony for its strategic cooperation framework agreement with RoboSense, a smart LiDAR sensor system company. The ceremony took place at BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen on December 23.

In the era of smart automobiles, vehicles are becoming the terminals with the greatest value. At present, the performance of new energy vehicles is improving rapidly. LiDAR has become an essential component of the intelligent driving system because of its active 3D imaging characteristics and its ability to obtain precise measurements down to one centimeter in its surrounding environment.

Founded in 2014, RoboSense has been engaged in the LiDAR industry for many years, and has accumulated industry-leading technology in three core technology fields: LiDAR hardware, intelligent sensing software and chips. Its second generation smart solid-state LiDAR RS-LiDAR-M1 has achieved a revolutionary step from stacked its previous one-dimensional scanning ability to the newer form of chip-based two-dimensional scanning. This evolution of the technology means that it can dynamically adjust its sensing method according to different driving scenarios. It can also provide intelligent environment monitoring for vehicles on different road conditions, such as highways and urban areas, to ensure safe driving.
