BYD Frigate 07 Reportedly to Be Released on May 28

On Friday, Chinese media outlet eChe.com reported that BYD is scheduled to release its Frigate 07 at the Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, which will open on May 28. The Frigate 07 is expected to be priced at 205,800 yuan and up.

The Frigate 07 is the first medium-sized SUV in BYD’s Ocean Frigate lineup. A picture of the vehicle first surfaced when the company applied to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In terms of appearance, as suggested by the tail marks “DM-i” and “AWD”, the Frigate 07 adopts BYD’s DM-i system and will be available in a four-wheel drive model. In terms of size, the vehicle’s measurements are (L) 4820 / (W) 1920 / (H) 1750mm, and has a wheelbase of 2820mm.

The SUV is equipped with integrated electric adjustment seats, a 15.6-inch DiLink system central control panel, 12 speakers, 5G network capability and other configurations. In terms of power, it features the DM-i plug-in hybrid system while the peak power of the front/rear motors is 145kW/150kW. The Frigate 07 is equipped with an iron phosphate blade battery and has an estimated pure electric cruising range of 200km.

BYD has made large strides in the production of new energy vehicles and has seen its sales increase steadily over the years. In April alone the company sold 106,042 vehicles while that of 2021 was 25,662. Regarding the Ocean series, it has two divisions, marine animals and frigates, with a total of 18,127 vehicles sold in April. On March 17, 2022, BYD released the Destroyer 05, the first model in Ocean series, with a price between 119,800 yuan and 155,800 yuan.
