BYD Destroyer 05 Champion Edition Introduces New Version

On August 9th, BYD’s Destroyer 05 Champion Edition added a new luxury model priced at ¥119,800 ($16,700) with a range of 120km. It has a comprehensive range of 1200km and supports 17kW DC fast charging, VTOL mobile power station, and NFC all-scenario digital key (compatible with iPhone).

BYD launched the Destroyer 05 Champion Edition in April this year, with an initial release of 5 versions and a suggested price range of ¥101,800 to ¥148,800 ($14,200-$20,600). This new model has brought down the price of the 120km pure electric range version to below ¥120,000 ($16,700).

Destroyer 05 Champion Edition continues the exclusive “Marine Aesthetics” design concept of Ocean Network, adding a new body color called Inkstone Blue. In terms of interior, the seats, steering wheel stitching, and air conditioning decorative strips of the 120km model have been upgraded to an Enamel Jade Blue color scheme. The steering wheel and central control panel are also made of matte material.

The new car comes with the DiLink intelligent connectivity system as standard across the entire range, supporting functions such as voice interaction, karaoke, OTA upgrades, etc. It also features smart technology configurations including a 12.8-inch rotating screen and digital key. Additionally, it now supports unlocking the car doors using an iPhone or Apple Watch.

In terms of power, the new car adopts DM-i super hybrid technology, consisting of a 1.5L efficient engine, EHS hybrid system, and blade battery. It can provide a pure electric range of 120km (NEDC cycle) and has a low fuel consumption rate of 3.8L when running on depleted battery. The overall driving range exceeds 1200 kilometers.
