He Xiaopeng, founder of XPeng Motors, posted on Weibo on Wednesday that the XPeng G9 is to be the best SUV within the 500,000 yuan ($74,700) price range. At present, the G9 is advancing proceeding according to plan and reservations will begin in August while the official launch will take place in September.
He Xiaopeng also said that the chassis designed by a top German engineer team will make the G9’s advanced sense of control comparable to a Porsche Cayenne, and the vehicle’s zero-to-one-hundred acceleration time will take only 3 seconds. Meanwhile, the NVH quietness of the vehicle will be comparable to that of a GLS Maybach.
In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4891/1937/1680 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2998 mm. The five-seat SUV G9 has a range of more than 700 km and is equipped with an 800V high-voltage overcharge platform. A 5 minute charge can take the vehicle another 200 km.
The G9 will be equipped with Xpilot 4.0, two laser radars, multiple 8-megapixel cameras and other sensing hardware. In terms of computing platform, the XPeng G9 is equipped with two NVIDIA OrinX chips and the computing power of a single chip can reach 254 TOPS.
The G9 is also built to comprehensively monitor its surroundings. For example, XPeng has built the G9 with a full-on VIP rest cabin with the latest in science and technology and an industry-first 5D intelligent console. The car relies on the company’s self-developed software and hardware so that passengers can enjoy an immersive in-car experience be it watching movies, listening to music or playing games.
The biggest highlight of the XPeng G9 is that the new car is built based on the X-EEA 3.0 architecture. According to the official instructions of XPeng, the electronic and electrical architecture of the X-EEA 3.0 will be based on the differences in the use of different types of software, and the vehicle’s software suite will be defined hierarchically. The order in which the system is constructed is: system software,, basic software, and intelligent application platform to form a standard interface for intelligent function call. The functions such as automatic driving, intelligent voice and intelligent scene will be able to be activated quicker than in previous versions.
