Xiaomi officially announced on Friday that the company has partnered with several universities across China and is in the process of building several workshops to be opened over the next few months. The workshops are aimed at developing talent within the university atmosphere and giving students a safe space to practice their craft.
The first batch of Xiaomi Workshops landed in 14 well-known universities in China such as Tsinghua University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Harbin Institute of Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Nanjing University.
Under the current employment environment, new standards for individuals, training objectives and teaching methodologies of colleges and universities need to be re-focused in order to be better aligned with the requirements of the times. Through the new concept of school-enterprise collaborative education of the Xiaomi Workshops, Xiaomi hopes to adopt a more flexible teaching method, set higher service standards and propel better technical platforms to cultivate more highly skilled and highly qualified, innovation-oriented graduates with a devotion to family and country as well as the pursuit of excellence for society as a whole.
In 2022, based on the Xiaomi Workshops, the company will be open to all teachers and students through its Elite Meeting platform. The platform will focus on seven key features, such as the Classroom, Technical Competition, Joint Training of Innovative Talents, School-level Master’s Forum and Industrial Cooperation Research Track. Each feature is targeted at a different subset of skills, ranging from empowering students’ job search, incubating innovative and entrepreneurial projects, transforming industrial research results, and promoting the construction of new engineering disciplines with integration of production and education.
