The leading developer of mixed reality glasses Nreal and the South Korean cellular carrier LG Uplus jointly announced on Aug. 11 the launch of the direct-to-consumer contract subsidized version of AR glasses “Nreal Light” at LG Uplus’ headquarter in Seoul, South Korea, Chinese tech media 36Kr reported.
Coverage indicated that Nreal Light and LG Uplus have launched two contract binding solutions, which can be bundled and sold with Samsung Note20, LG Velvet mobile phones and LG Uplus 5G data packages, corresponding to different 5G contracts for 349,000 won (approximately 2,045 yuan) and 699,000 won (approximately 4,099), respectively.
On August 11, Nreal Light became available for purchase on the LG Uplus online store. Starting from August 21, it will gradually hit the shelves at LG Uplus Korean offline retail stores, 36Kr reported.
Shaped like sunglasses, the lightweight and compact Nreal Light can provide a 52° wide-angle field of view and a 1080p 3D screen resolution display, enabling a portable IMAX-sized screen experience.
Nreal Light incorporates a self-developed 3D system called Nebula, with the core function of converting the content ratio of conventional 2D applications into a user-defined 3D interface, 36Kr reported. The user interface of the Nebula system bears a close resemblance to the conventional interface and user operating habits of smartphones.
With Nebula, users can watch shows while browsing the internet, as well as customize their experience by arranging multiple simultaneous screens in the field of view, creating a unique user space.
The consumer version of Nreal Light is equipped with a pair of Nreal glasses, a user-friendly magnetic myopia lens, four magnetic nose pads of different sizes, as well as a VR cover. The cover can be directly used as a hood to block peripheral vision and turn the glasses to VR mode, 36Kr reported.
Nreal Light currently supports the use of hundreds of global popular applications, including Google Chrome, Facebook, Kakao Talk, and Instagram.
