Jiemian News reported on Thursday that pre-sale of the Hengchi 5, a car model made by Evergrande Auto, will start on July 6. Interested customers can make an appointment to test drive, which has been made available in the last week or so.
The pre-sale price of the Hengchi 5 is not yet fully determined, although it is expected to be about 200,000 yuan ($29,875). The first batch of pre-sale volume is about 10,000 units. It is necessary to pay a “small deposit” first after the pre-sale to obtain the rights and interests from July 6 to July 31. The amount of the small deposit is 1,000 yuan, and the amount can be transferred from small deposit to large deposit from August 1 to August 31. The amount of large deposit is 10,000 yuan. The delivery time of the first batch of Hengchi 5 is expected to be from October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.
The first 10,000 customers who pay the small deposit can enjoy ten specific rights and benefits provided by Hengchi, including the ability to return the car for a refund 15 days after picking it up and using it, the ability to buy it back at a 60% discount within three years after picking it up, and the free delivery of the H-Pilot intelligent assisted driving package.
In the beginning of this year, the Hengchi 5 was officially rolled out from the firm’s Tianjin factory. On March 8, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the latest batch of model catalogs, which included the Hengchi 5, meaning that it was officially qualified for sale.
Xu Jiayin, the chairman of the board of directors of Evergrande Group, said clearly in the mobilization meeting held on March 22: “We must realize the mass production of the Hengchi 5 before June 22.” Later, due to the delay of pre-sale time, news suggesting “Evergrande Auto postponed the pre-sale of electric cars for an indefinite period” spread online.
On May 18, Hengchi issued a statement denying the news, and said due to the pandemic situation, the production time of the Hengchi 5 was postponed from June 22, 2022 to September 20, 2022, and that pre-sale work was progressing normally.
Recently, Xiao En, the executive director and CEO of China Evergrande, told media that the firm was preparing for mass production and sales of the Hengchi 5 as planned. It is expected to realize mass production in the third quarter of this year. It has officially opened exhibition experience centers in Guangzhou and Tianjin, and has set up 11 direct sales centers.
