On October 12 DJI today announced to release new S35 camera called Zenmuse X7, which is a compact S35 camera for filming with a built-in pan/tilt head. The camera can perfectly suit Inspire 2 with excellent quality, new DL lens mount and lens group as well as new DJI color filming system.
According to the official introduction, the Zenmuse X7 pan/tilt head camera uses S35 image sensor, supports RAW format whose highest output is 6K/30fps and 3.9K/59.94 FPS. The single pixel size of image sensor is 3.91μm and the diagonal line reaches 26.6mm in video mode. The large-size sensor brings excellent sensitivity and as much as 14 different levels of dynamic range, which is more than 12.8 levels of Zenmuse X5S. Moreover, the sensor’s signal-to-noise ratio is up to 46dB, which is about 8dB higher than that of Zenmuse X5S. The tonal range is as high as 9.41 bits, satisfying the stringent requirements of professional film production.
DJI introduces a new DL card system whose aperture is 58mm. Thanks to the new FSI-Cu techniques adopted by Zenmuse X7 sensor, the interconnection layer in censor is thinner and light could enter photosensitive area at larger incident angle which increases photosensitivity. Meanwhile, sensors adopted this technology could make lens mount smaller and more compact, while maintaining a high quality.
In addition, DJI also launches 4 types of high-quality fixed focal lenses covering 16 to 50mm whose resolving power is up to 8K for DL card. The lens shell uses a carbon fiber and is extremely lightweight (about 180g).
DJI also launched a new color system: DJI Cinema Color System. The new color system includes a new D-log curve and a D-Gamut RGB color space. The D-log of Zenmuse X5S only has 13 levels of dynamic range of the, while the new D-log, which is specially designed for film, has more than 15 levels of dynamic range. Even in harsh environment, the cameral could retain the rich details in bright and dark environment, leaving more space for post-production. And D-Gamut can completely cover the DCI-P3 color range commonly used in the film industry and improve the aerial photography scene, leaving more residue and multiple green degrees for the green area.
The Zenmuse X7 camera is priced at 16,999 yuan (excluding lenses) in the mainland of China. 16mm, 24mm and 35mm lenses are priced at 8,499 yuan, while the 50mm lens is for 7,499 yuan. The four-in-one professional set with all four shots costs 26,999 yuan and could be reserved since today.
