On Tuesday, China Media Group (CMG) released a statement regarding the broadcasting rights for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, reiterating that no other media will cover the Games in video or audio formats in the mainland or Macao Special Administrative Region.
On the Chinese mainland, CMG has granted the rights to Migu, Tencent, Kuaishou, BRTV (the channel dedicated to Beijing Winter Olympics documentaries), Shanghai Great Sports, and GRT-Sports. Aside from these broadcasters, no other channel is entitled to cover the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics starts on February 4, 2022 and closes on February 20, 2022.
Except for the authorized channels mentioned above, no other organization or individual has the broadcasting rights of Olympic programs on any platform, including open circuit television, pay TV, internet, or mobile devices. Delayed matches, relays and downloading of broadcasts are also prohibited without the prior authorization of the CMG.
CMG will work with all parties for better protection of the legitimate rights and interests of all involved and will crack down on those infringing upon the broadcast rights of the Olympics.
