2019 Third Quarter China Gaming Industry Report: Tencent Accounts for over Half of the Market Share
Recently, Gamma Data (CNG), a Chinese research institute specializing in investigation and analysis of the gaming industry, released “2019 Third Quarter Report of China Gaming Industry”. The report shows that from July to September 2019, the actual sales revenue of the Chinese mobile gaming market is 38.38 billion. The revenue is basically the same with the second quarter (from April to June), representing nearly an 8% increase compared with the same period last year. In a word, it almost certainly predicts the recovery of the gaming industry in 2019 as numerous new products are scheduled to be released in Q4 2019.

It is also noteworthy that games published by Tencent account for over half of the entire Chinese market. In addition, games like Arknights and Miracle Nikki performed exceptionally well in the third quarter.
According to the studies, in the third quarter of 2019, RPG games performed well in terms of revenue. RPG-related mobile games accounted for six of the top ten mobile games in the China market. Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile Lite and Fantasy Westward Journey are the top three.
In the third quarter of 2019, all of the top five new games in terms of monthly revenue were adapted from online novels or other internet IPs. First on the list is the Chinese version of “Crazy Racing Kart-Rider”, adapted from the client game by Korean developer Nexon, and the second place goes to the mobile game called “Dragon Fantasy”, adapted from famous online novel “Dragon Raja”.
