TikTok has over 200 million MAU in India, but has recently come under fire from regulatory authorities for inappropriate content. This educational initiative attempts to assuage some of the concerns of the Indian government, and promote the application as having positive social value.

TikTok has partnered with multiple educational content creators including Vedantu, Toppr, Made Easy and Gradeup. Sachin Sharma, director of Sales and Partnerships at TikTok, said at a press conference in New Delhi that educational content was among the most popular content on the platform globally, prompting the platform to invest more resources into this vertical. Sharma also cited that more than 10 million educational videos have been created and shared on TikTok, where they have attracted over 48 billion views.
