On Thursday, the 2022 WeChat Open Class PRO officially opened in Guangzhou. Several of Tencent‘s business divisions responsible for mini programs, video accounts, WeChat Pay, Souyisou and WeCom, all shared the programs’ updates.
Entering in 2022, the WeChat mini program is about to celebrate its fifth anniversary. Zeng Ming, the person in charge of the WeChat platform, said that the previous year saw the daily active users of the platform’s mini programs exceeded 450 million. Further, the number of active mini programs increased by 41% year-on-year, and the average daily use times of these mini programs increased by 32% year-on-year.
Affected by the epidemic, mini programs have accelerated their integration into all walks of life. Nucleic acid detection and vaccine appointments have been accessed by over 700 million users. Mini programs for office use, such as those for online document sharing, have served over 750 million users. On average, more than 100 million users use government services through the available mini programs every day.
Tencent‘s data shows that transaction volumes of mini programs involved in the retail, tourism and catering industries, had increased by over 100% year-on-year. With the upgrade of its advertising function, mini programs have helped increase developer profit by over 90% year-on-year.
Some videos related to trending topics on the platform’s video accounts acquired a huge number of viewers, such as the launch of the Shenzhou-12 and Meng Wanzhou’s return to China. Irish boyband Westlife live-streamed their first-ever online concert on WeChat, attracting over 27 million viewers.
Zhang Ying, Vice President of Tencent and Head of WeChat Pay, talked about the goal of WeChat Pay: “Our goal is to make WeChat Pay a living habit of WeChat users and become a part of their lives.” At present, every month, 23,000 payment service providers serve thousands of merchants while more than 1,800 banks and payment institutions jointly promote the development of mobile payments.
With the extensive development of the WeChat ecology, Souyisou has become a search engine that every WeChat user can use at any time. Up to now, the monthly active users of Souyisou has topped more than 700 million, up 20% from the previous year.
Nowadays, more and more businesses are using the WeCom. Every hour, 1.15 million employees use the application, resulting in 140 million interactions.
