Tencent Becomes Majority Shareholder of Game Developer Tequila Works

Tequila Works, the studio that developed Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story, announced on Tuesday that Chinese tech giant Tencent has become its majority shareholder.

Founded in 2009, Madrid-headquartered Tequila Works is known for titles including RiME, Deadlight, GYLT, The Sexy Brutale, The Invisible Hours and the upcoming Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story.

Luz Sancho, Tequila Works Chairwoman said: “We are delighted to ally with Tencent that allows us to make Tequila Works a stronger studio with access to all the resources required to produce titles of the highest quality, and the opportunity of bringing these projects to a wider audience.”

After Tencent‘s acquisition, Tequila Works will maintain its independence and creative freedom, which is a similar offer to the studio it had acquired before.

Last November, Riot Games announced the brand-new work Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story under LoL, which was developed in cooperation with Tequila Works. It will be released in 2022, landing on PC and Console platforms and include a Chinese version.
