SGMW and DJI Jointly Develop Cars

Vehicle maker SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) and Chinese drone developer DJI announced on Thursday that the first outcome of a global strategic cooperation was formally achieved, and the world’s first new energy mass-production model equipped with DJI’s vehicle system will be launched soon.

According to the official introduction, SAIC-GM-Wuling and DJI have been preparing for in-depth strategic cooperation since as early as 2019. Over the years, the two sides have invested several billion yuan, and have gathered top scientific and technological talent in the field of intelligent driving both in China and abroad. They have also set up a joint R&D team, focusing on the field of intelligent driving to suit China’s complicated traffic conditions. They have successfully completed more than 1 million kilometers of road tests.

SAIC-GM-Wuling has an intelligent R&D team of more than 4,000 members globally, 109 of which have doctorate degrees. It built the world’s first public test road integrating 5G, V2X, remote driving control and unmanned driving. In 2019, it started working on unmanned logistics and actively exploring the field of intelligent driving.

Since its establishment 16 years ago, DJI has continuously innovated its technology into many frontier fields. Relying on the R&D capability of intelligent system software and hardware, and the advantages of efficient supply chain vertical integration, DJI Automotive focuses on the R&D, production and sales services of intelligent driving systems and their core components.
