According to a statement today by local officials, the People’s Government of Shuangliu District in the Chinese city of Chengdu held a signing ceremony on Wednesday afternoon with leading domestic logistics firm SF Express, regarding an investment cooperation agreement with the SF Airlines Western China Headquarters Project.
SF Airlines’ Western China headquarters will be located in Chengdu’s Shuangliu District. It is estimated that the fleet will reach more than 50 airplanes within the next 10 years, and that the throughput of cargo planes will be increased by more than 150,000 tons per year at the Shuangliu Airport. This will be SF Express’ fourth regional international aviation hub – after Beijing, Hangzhou and Shenzhen – helping to build a global supply chain system centered in Chengdu.
According to the agreement, SF Airlines’ Western China Headquarters Project will be in line with the overall strategic layout of Shuangliu District, playing an important role in the construction of a global freight network system.
SF Airlines will increase investment in cargo planes and establish a cargo fleet with a high load capability, which combines all sizes of cargo planes and covers medium to long ranges.
In addition, the company plans to enrich its route network to build a Western China international aviation hub. The network will connect with international and domestic cargo routes and major air cargo hub node cities across the world, building a cargo route network that covers China and reaches the whole world, including the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.
Chengdu currently has 374 routes, ranking fourth in China and first in the center-west region. Up to now, SF Airlines operates six international and domestic all-cargo routes in Chengdu, while the base accounted for more than 20% of total air cargo throughput in 2021.
This SF Airlines Western China Headquarters Project is also the fourth project carried out by SF Express concerning Shuangliu Airport. The headquarters will form a complete ecosystem of air-land multimodal transport and air express with the SF Sichuan Distribution Center and the SF Express Western Air Cargo Hub Project.
