Semisight Secures Millions from Angel Investors

Recently, Semisight announced the completion of an angel round of investing worth of tens of millions of yuan. The deal was by Hui Capital and followed by Plum Ventures. The influx of funds into the company will be used for upgrading logic simulations, logic synthesis, safety and reliability simulation team building, and brand promotion.

Semisight, founded in October 2020, is an innovative hightech firm focused on the electronics design automation (EDA) field. Seventy percent of the company’s staff have a master’s degree or above, and more than 90% of all employees are R&D personnel. The company is currently in a high-speed development stage and plans to keep recruiting throughout 2022.

Headquartered in Shanghai, the company is based on EDA logic simulation and logic synthesis tools with independent intellectual property rights, including automotive electronics, consumer electronics, chips for the Internet of Things, and hybrid circuits.

EDA is the foundation of the whole chip industry. In 2020, the global EDA field was worth only $11.5 billion yet supported the global chip market valued at around $500 billion in addition to the electronics industry worth nearly $1,650 billion. China has the fastest growing chip market in the world, but domestic chip design companies still rely heavily on US-led EDA companies. The global EDA market is mainly occupied by Cadence, Synopsys and Siemens EDA.

In October, 2021, Semisight officially released SSIM, the first EDA tool in the field of functional safety industry to be developed based on an in-house logic simulation platform.

Along its development route, Semisight is taking functional safety as the hinge of the matter, focusing on the electronic chip simulation market of automotive electronics, medical electronics and aerospace electronics. In addition, the company’s products will be extended to low-power-oriented consumer electronics and Internet of Things electronics.
