New Details on Xiaomi 13 Smartphone Series Emerge

On September 25, a Xiaomi 5G smartphone model with code name “2210132C” passed China’s official safety assessment process, which is required for all products imported or sold in the country. The new device comes with a charger named “MDY-14-ED” and supports up to 120W fast charging.

According to the certification information, the applicant for this Xiaomi 5G mobile phone is Beijing Xiaomi Electronics Co., Ltd., while the manufacturer is FIH Precision Electronics (Langfang) Co., Ltd. The initial certification date is September 25.

On September 26, a prominent Chinese tech blogger with Weibo username “Digital Chat Station” broke the news that this mobile phone belongs to the Xiaomi 13 smartphone series, is code-named the “M2,” and is likely the Xiaomi 13 Pro.

Earlier on the same day, the blogger wrote that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, code-named the “M1,” has started new product introduction (NPI), bridging factory and R&D stages, meaning the company has introduced the newly designed product units to factory for production.

According to previously leaked information, Qualcomm will release a new generation of flagship chips, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2, in November this year, and the first batch of devices equipped with the chip will debut in late November. Industry insiders assume that this new model will be the Xiaomi 13 smartphone series.

Other reports revealed that the Xiaomi 13 devices will continue to use the IMX989 sensor with Leica’s support. The standard version of the Xiaomi 13 will use a straight screen, while the Pro version will adopt a slightly curved screen. It is also reported that the test phones use a ceramic back cover, although whether the final model version will use it is still unknown.

The MIUI14 operating system will likely debut together with the Xiaomi 13 series in November. The design style of MIUI14 has a more of a card-based design, which is similar to the style of Huawei’s HarmonyOS. In addition, Xiaomi will release a new UI and icons, as well as the “Large Folders” feature that many users are expecting.

In addition, Wang Hua, a public relations manager for Xiaomi, previously said on Chinese social media that the firm has started to develop its own operating system. This system is not Vela, an IoT software platform launched by the company, but a brand-new operating system.
