Mazda Plans to Launch Electric Vehicles in the Chinese Market

On April 17th, it was reported that on the evening of April 16th, Changan Mazda’s “FEEL ALIVE” brand night was held in Shanghai. Mazda (China) introduced its transformation strategy and vision for the era of electrification to the public for the first time and announced a new partnership model with Changan Automobile.

According to reports, in the electric and intelligent dominated Chinese automobile market, Mazda brand will accelerate its transformation and fully embrace electrification.

In April this year, Mazda officially transferred its China business strategy function from the Hiroshima headquarters to Mazda (China) which is located in Shanghai, further promoting the rapid formulation and implementation of Mazda’s market strategy in China.

According to the official release of the 3-stage timeline, Mazda plans to launch pure electric vehicle models in the Chinese market from 2025-2027, and officially introduce pure electric vehicles from 2028-2030 to transition into the era of electrification.

Currently, Mazda and Changan Automobile have started to dispatch development teams to Changan Mazda. Changan Mazda will usher in a new era that is more localized and more Chinese.

Looking towards 2025, Mazda will lead the global trend of electrification and intelligence based on the Chinese automotive market. Through cooperation with Changan Automobile, a brand new range of electric products will be developed.

At this year’s Auto Shanghai, the MAZDA CX-50 and HEV hybrid models will make their global debut at the Changan Mazda booth.

Based on the demand of Chinese market users for electrified products, by the end of 2024 and 2025 respectively, Changan Mazda will launch two locally developed and produced new energy vehicle models with power systems including pure electric mode and plug-in hybrid mode.
