Chinese EV firm Leapmotor has announced that the launch of the C01, the brand’s new pure electric sedan, will be on September 28. Pre-sale has already opened, including five models with prices ranging from 180,000 to 270,000 yuan ($26,019 – $39,028). The car is expected to be delivered to customers in the third quarter of this year.
Leapmotor C01 is a mid-to-large pure electric sedan with dimensions of 5050mm, 1890mm, 1503mm and a wheelbase of 2930mm. It is in the same grade as the BYD Han and XPeng P7, but at a much lower price.
Leapmotor C01 adopts a streamlined body, bezel-less doors, hidden door handles and a high ducktail design at the rear. This makes the wind resistance coefficient of the C01 only Cd0.226, indicating high effectiveness in reducing wind resistance and energy consumption.
Inside the car, Leapmotor C01 features the same T-table triple screen design as the C11, a coated panoramic canopy, full leather-wrapped door panels, NAPPA leather seats, rear boss seats, and a large suede headliner.
In terms of its intelligent cockpit, Leapmotor C01 achieves the effect of supporting three screens with one Qualcomm 8155 chip. It is also the first to use face recognition technology. The new car is equipped with OPPO Smart Car Connection, which supports interconnection with OPPO handsets and allows certain control of the vehicle by OPPO watches.
In terms of intelligent driving, Leapmotor C01 comes standard with the Leapmotor Pilot intelligent driving assistance system. It has 28 high precision sensing hardware and 23 intelligent driving assistance functions. Users can also subscribe to the NAP intelligent navigation assistance system, which can cover all scenarios such as daily urban travel, high-speed long-distance driving and parking lot parking, providing L2 driving assistance.
As for power, the Leapmotor C01 is available in a single-motor version with a maximum power of 200kW and a maximum torque of 360 Nm, and also in a dual-motor version with a maximum power of 400kW and a maximum torque of 720 Nm. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h for the dual-motor version is as fast as 3.66 seconds. The new car will carry a ternary battery with CTC technology (arranging the battery directly into the chassis), and the ranges under CLTC conditions are 500 km, 606 km, 630 km and 717 km respectively.
Leapmotor C01 adopts CTC battery pack-less technology, thus reducing the internal structure of the battery pack by integrating battery cells directly into the chassis of the vehicle and eliminating the modules previously used in the power cell. With this technology, the vehicle can improve space utilization by 14.5%, vehicle stiffness by 25%, and improve the range of the vehicle.
