The first batch of “Hydrogen Energy-Powered Passenger MPVs,” composed of SAIC MAXUS Mifa car models, was officially unveiled on August 4. Up until now, the model has been delivered to more than 100 users, becoming the world’s first hydrogen energy-powered MPV to realize commercial operations.
SAIC MAXUS is one of the few car companies in the field of hydrogen fuel cells in China. Relying on SAIC’s transformation strategy and technical support, the company has made breakthrough progress in the field of hydrogen fuel cells.
The SAIC MAXUS Mifa hydrogen model is equipped with the third-generation fuel cell technology of SAIC, which has the advantages of high safety, fast hydrogenation speed, and long cruising range. It generates only water in emissions.
At the same time, the Mifa Hydrogen model has also carried out rigorous durability road tests and high temperature and severe cold weather tests, with a total mileage of 1 million km, demonstrating a reliable safety performance.
It takes only three to five minutes to fill the model’s 6.4 kg high-pressure hydrogen bottle. After filling with hydrogen, the vehicle’s standard endurance range of NEDC can reach 605 km, and the hydrogen consumption per 100 kilometers is 1.18 kg, which is equivalent to only 0.04 yuan ($0.0059) per kilometer.
Hydrogen energy produces no carbon emissions and is regarded as the ultimate energy in the 21st century. At present, the development of hydrogen power vehicles has been supported by China, and has been included in the country’s “14th Five-Year Plan.” Shanghai has also issued a number of implementation targets, and plans to promote nearly 10,000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2023.
SAIC MAXUS said that enterprises should seize the opportunity presented by hydrogen energy economic development in the future, and take the MIFA hydrogen as the starting point to continuously promote the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle products.
