Chinese telecommunications and electronics giant Huawei announced new personnel appointments for its Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit (IAS BU), showing position changes for several senior executives. The notice was personally issued by CEO Ren Zhengfei.
According to the notice, Wang Jun, former President of IAS BU, has been appointed as COO of the body and concurrently serves as President of the intelligent driving solution product line.
Yu Chengdong will continue to serve as CEO of Huawei’s IAS BU.
Bian Honglin will serve as CTO and Director of the R&D Management Department within IAS BU.
It is worth noting that due to management needs, the company abolished the president position of IAS BU according to the notice. Huawei said that the new appointments had been made to senior managers with the core management team remaining unchanged, and that these were normal personnel adjustments to better develop the intelligent automotive parts business.
Huawei’s IAS BU officially launched Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solution (HI, or “Huawei Inside”) at the Shanghai Auto Show in April earlier this year. Extreme Fox Alpha S, the first model equipped with HI, made its debut at the exhibition. Huawei is currently cooperating with BAIC Motor, Changan Auto and GAC Group based on HI technology.
In addition to the HI package, Huawei can also provide MDC (mobile data center) computing platform, intelligent cockpit, intelligent electric power and other solutions for auto partners, all of which can be sold separately to establish diversified product systems.
Furthermore, Yu Chengdong has found a new model for the auto business – selling cars for auto companies through Huawei’s consumer-oriented channels and sharing the profits, which is the business model of Huawei Smart Selection. The company’s first auto partner is Seres. After cooperating with Huawei Smart Selection, the Seres SF5 has obtained thousands of orders.
