Founding Team Member of Xiaomi Appointed as General Manager of Yitong Technology

Yitong Technology announced on Tuesday that it has hired Sun Peng as its general manager. Sun Peng graduated from the School of Computer Science and Technology of University of Science and Technology of China, worked at Microsoft Asian Academy of Engineering, and was a member of Xiaomi‘s start-up team.

Sun Peng was one of the founding leaders of MIUI and one of its first three engineers. In the early days of MIUI, he held several positions and put together many new teams within the company. Sun helped build MIUI, the third-party smartphone operating system that was specifically developed, optimized, customized by Xiaomi based on the Android system. It also served as Xiaomi‘s first product. Since the alpha version was released in August 2010, it has had more than 500 million domestic and foreign users and supports 80 languages in 221 countries and regions around the world.

Sun Peng was also one of the founding leaders of Xiaomi Ecological Chain. In 2014, he transferred from MIUI to Xiaomi Ecological Chain as the director of product planning. At the end of 2017, Sun Peng served as a member of the IoT Technical Committee, and then transferred to the Strategic Investment Department. By 2021, Xiaomi had invested in more than 300 IoT enterprises, created many unicorn enterprises including Zepp Health.

In February 2022, Sun Peng officially joined Yitong Technology. He has a senior professional background and extensive management experience in operating systems, IoT and other fields. As general manager, he can lead the company to achieve new business breakthroughs and growth opportunities.

Yitong Technology was established in 2004. Since its inception, the company has invested tens of millions of yuan, and has successively signed strategic technology agreements with INFINEON (one of the three major semiconductor companies in the world), MediaTek (a famous chip company), and VIA Technologies (a 3G solution provider), to improve its product research and development capabilities.

Previously, in February 2021, Anhui Shunyuan Xinke Management Consulting Partnership (Limited Partnership), a subsidiary of Zepp Health, completed the acquisition of 29.99% minority equity of Yitong Technology for about 960 million yuan ($152.19 million) and became the controlling shareholder. Subsequently, Yitong Technology set up a wholly-owned subsidiary Hefei Whale Microelectronics and increased its registered capital to 50 million yuan ($7.9 million).

Yitong Technology will disclose its 2021 annual report on March 14. The previously released performance forecast shows that the net profit attributable to owners of the listed company is between 27 million yuan ($4.3 million) and 29.5 million yuan ($4.7 million), with an increase of 192.5%-219.5% compared with the same period of last year.
