Caocao Mobility Plans Carbon Neutral Operations in 2023, Net Zero in 2035

Caocao Mobility, the ride-hailing unit of Chinese automaker Geely Holding Group, announced on January 13 a corporate goal to achieve carbon neutrality. The firm is expected to reach this benchmark in its own operations in 2023, while zero net emissions of all ride-hailing travel orders will be completed by 2035.

A responsible individual within Caocao Mobility said: “This goal is proposed based on comprehensive consideration of national policies, industry trends and corporate social responsibility.” In September 2021, Caocao Mobility formulated a strategy of “New Car, New Power and New Ecosystem,” and the “carbon neutrality” goal released this time sets a timetable for the phased goals.

Caocao Mobility added that in the future it will focus on upgrades to its product line, types of cars, technical algorithms and other measures, while realizing the growth of business scale and market share. The firm aims to steadily reduce its contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, thereby helping to advance the Chinese government’s two national carbon goals – realizing peak carbon emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060.

In addition, the source from Caocao Mobility revealed that the firm will release a complete carbon neutral plan in the future. The report will be jointly prepared by Caocao Mobility and Geely Digital, another unit of Geely, and China Beijing Environmental Exchange (CBEEX) will provide relevant technical support.
